Finding sensitive skin care products is not as hard as you might think. You just need to think outside the box, so to speak. In this case, the boxes are produced by the major cosmetic companies.
It is the preferred ingredients of popular cosmetic companies that have caused the allergic and adverse reactions experienced by many individuals. the companies claim that the reactions are caused by individual sensitivities. while that might be partially true, the inclusion of unsafe ingredients is also a cause.
Anything that is toxic to the inside of our bodies can be toxic to the outside. many ingredients, especially artificial chemicals, penetrate through the skin’s pores and enter the bloodstream. those things that do not penetrate, create blockages and cause irritation to the skin’s surface.
In order to think outside the box, you need to choose cleansers, creams, lotions and other health and beauty aids that are not manufactured by the big cosmetic companies. You cannot rely on the box claims or labels indicating that the creams, lotions or cleansers are sensitive skin products.
The term is not legally defined, nor is it defined by the industry. There are no rules or regulations concerning what ingredients to leave out or include.
For the most part, natural ingredients are the gentlest and safest. In most cases, the simpler and more natural a product, the safer it will be.the less likely it is to cause an allergic or adverse reaction. However, there are a couple of exceptions.
Those people who have perfume allergies must avoid balsam of Peru and other concentrated plant-based fragrances. Other examples are orange oil, citronella and linalool. while they smell nice and are derived from nature, the fragrances are concentrated. So, they can cause allergic reactions, including itching, redness and irritation.
They can also irritate the nasal passages, sinuses and respiratory tract. It’s not a good idea for a person with asthma to buy sensitive skin products containing any added fragrance, whether natural or artificial.
Artificial preservatives are another cause of irritation and also one that is hard to avoid.
All creams, lotions and cleansers must include some kind of preservative, in order to prevent the oils from becoming rancid, but there are natural preservatives.
Natural vitamin E is an effective antioxidant and preservative. It will not cause irritation. So, it is an ideal choice for preserving sensitive skin care products. You just have to avoid the big cosmetic company boxes, in order to find it.
