The Cape Cod Mall will host the national “Mom’s Nite Out” event from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The event is a free way for local moms to have a night out where they can enjoy an evening of free pampering, fun and giveaways. The evening features beauty advice and makeovers, fragrance samples, fitness demos, food and drink sampling, shopping discounts and prize giveaway. Cape Cod Mall is located at 769 Iyannough Road in Hyannis.
The Nauset Rotary Club is hosting its Eighth Annual Taste of the Cape on Thursday.
The event, at the Eastham Elks Hall, McCoy Road, Eastham, will offer signature samplings from local restaurants.
There are two seatings, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. with entertainment provided by Tim Sweeney and the Fringe. Adult tickets are $20 per person and youth $10, and are available at Focalpoint Studio, Orleans. Proceeds will benefit the Nauset Rotary Club’s good Works Fund for scholarships, literacy, pure water, local charities and more.

The Falmouth Historical Society and the Museums on the Green, 55 Palmer Ave., Falmouth, will hold a volunteer orientation meeting on at 4 p.m. Thursday. The society welcomes returning volunteers as well as those who have never participated.
The historical society is in the process of building a new education center and part of the orientation will focus on that. it will also cover exhibits and tour information for the coming season, as well as an update on the gift shop.

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster is offering “Wednesday Walks with Connie Boyce” from 10 a.m. to noon during may and June. each walk is approximately three to four miles. Cost is $4 for members, and $6 for non-members. The schedule is as follows: 9:30 a.m. may 9, Morris Island, Chatham; 9 a.m. may 16, Four Ponds Conservation Area, Pocasset; 9:15 a.m. may 23, Wellfleet Walk, Wellfleet; 9 a.m. may 30, Mashpee River, Mashpee; 9:30 a.m. June 6, Thompson’s Field, Harwich; 9:45 a.m. June 13, Flax Pond Conservation Area, Dennis, and 9:30 a.m. June 20, Wiley Park to Cape Cod Bay.

The Cape Abilities 5K Walk/Run will be held on may 19 from the Hyannis Village Green on Main Street. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Runners start at 9:15 a.m. and walkers at 9:20 a.m.
Participants may register on their own or as teams.
The course, which is flat with water views, is also appropriate for wheelchairs.
All proceeds will benefit Cape Abilities, a nonprofit organization that provides jobs, homes, transportation and support for people with disabilities across Cape Cod.

The three-day festival features an extensive plant sale of perennials, Proven Winners Edible Collection herbs and vegetables, 2012 specialty annuals, tropical plants and succulents. enjoy free lectures, guided wildflower garden walks and special exhibits. on Friday, a luncheon accented with herbs will be served by gracious volunteers.

On may 19, nearly 100 bicyclists, members of the Eastham Professional Firefighters Association, and the family of William B. Hartung will unite for the 22nd Annual Eastham Firefighters Bike-A-Thon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Over the past 21 years, the charity event has raised more than $264,000 for services to benefit local area families affected by muscle disease. The event features a 20-mile leisurely ride along the Cape Cod Rail Trail, T-shirts for every participant who raise at least $50, a cookout hosted by the Orleans/Eastham Elks Lodge members, and prizes, including tickets to a Red Sox game and gift certificates to Idle Time Bike Shops.
Idle Times Bike Shops has once again donated two bicycles for the adult and child who raise the most money for MDA in their age categories. Teams are also welcome to participate and will receive a trophy for the group raising the most sponsor donations.
