Yes exams are a stressful time. yes I’m too busy cramming to wash my hair or apply a decent face. yes I’ve prioritised revision over sleep and fitness…but NO I won’t let you notice!
Everyone goes a bit mental during the exam period…people who have never been to the library suddenly camp out there all night and it seems that EVERYONE is wondering around the new Forum with a frantic look in their eyes clutching a Costa. But I see no reason to let the work and stress turn me into a mess. After all if you keep yourself healthy and feeling physically confident you’ll be in a better state to work and do well.
so here are a few of my quick fix tips to survive exams and keep you feeling fresh and, more importantly, sane!
Beauty: because looking good is confidence and you need it now more than ever!
- Batiste Dry Shampoo: A well known favourite of girls around the world and the Saviour of the hair wash skivers. being so quick and easy to apply there is no excuse for greasy-been-revising-all-day-and-night-hair and instead you’ll feel and smell fresh!
- under Eye Concealer and Highlighter: A particularly good one available from e.l.f. at eyeslipsface.co.uk containing vitamins A and E, chamomile, caffeine and green tea. one side conceals those dreaded under-eye bags that arise from late night revision and the other side highlights to brighten up your face so that you feel and look as fresh and awake as 8 hours sleep! It also comes at a student friendly price of £3.50 and in a variety of colours for all skin tones. no one need know that you’ve lost any sleep!
Health: because a healthy body is a healthy brain!
- DITCH THE COSTAS! although it is commonly thought that coffee will wire you for an intense revision session people overlook the caffeine come down…if you need to be working long days lots of coffee will make you frantic and stressed for an hour and then lethargic and more stressed all day. not for me! I’d much rather take some herbal tea, it keeps you awake with its freshness, is soothing on the senses to calm your nerves and also very good for you! so for me it’s a no brainer – and you can even get them from Costa too so you don’t even have to part from your beloved takeaway cup!
- Lunch Time Gym Classes: Now I know the gym can feel like the last place you should be when you have an exam coming up but we’ve all been told before…exercise will help. and it really will! But if you can’t face the gym itself then I’d strongly recommend the many classes they offer. It only takes an hour and can be the perfect break in between revision. There’s yoga and Pilates for those who need to relax where you will spend an hour thinking only about your muscles and your breathing, or there is Pump and Tone for those who’d rather get all their anxieties out in a slightly more aggressive way! I really couldn’t prescribe anything better to keep you level headed. if your body feels fit and healthy so will your brain…and what’s more, after those exams the bikini season is upon us!
so if you follow these four simple rules there’s no reason that you can’t do well in your exams AND stay looking great all the while!
best of luck!!
